Shalom members and friends! We are making progress!
Shalom members and friends!
We are making progress! As the Israelites in this week's Parsha, Bahaalotecha, begin to move forward, so are we. There’s a lot of movement in our country right now. Every few days people are marching for such causes as women’s reproductive rights, gun control legislation, voting rights and other causes.
This Shabbat, June 18th, Reverend Barber and the Moral Majority Movement will march in D.C. Many Jewish communities are participating and also coming together for a short Shabbat service in the morning. As Rabbi Heschel, who walked with MLKJr in Selma, said “I felt my feet praying.” And, finally, the January 6 Hearings, are taking us forward in renewing this nation's democracy.
In the Parsha we read about a cloud of protection and light hovering over the Israelites. We can imagine how those marching this Shabbes also have the presence of the Cloud of Glory, guiding them as described in the Torah.
Bahaalotecha is the word in the Parsha instructing each of us of to raise up the Light (in dedicating the Menorah).
This month you are also “raising up the Light” by contributing to our June Appeal.

We continue on our journey with renewed strength.
