The announcement today from the CDC that those who are fully vaccinated can go maskless outside except for crowded outdoor events is welcome news!

With our Lag BaOmer and Annual Picnic scheduled at our Sanctuary Retreat Center this coming Sunday we are hoping that our members and friends will come out, weather permitting, of course. Those who have not been vaccinated or fully vaccinated are welcome as well and encouraged to follow the CDC guidelines.

It’s interesting that our sages created Lag BaOmer as a semi-holiday to celebrate the lifting of a “plague” that caused the death of thousands of Judeans in the 2nd century C.E.. The name Lag BaOmer means the 33rd day of the Omer period, the seven weeks between Pesach and Shavuot. Historically, it was a time of intense devotion to the land, plowing, planting, cultivating and harvesting certain grains.

If you are close by and feel okay being with folks outdoors, consider joining us at Sanctuary this Sunday, between 2 and 5:30pm. See details below. The grounds are looking beautiful and the trails are clear.

This evening, when Lag BaOmer begins, is the 32nd day of the Omer. The primary divine emanation this week is Netzakh, Endurance. It is complimented by Hod,

splendor, majesty, the beauty of nature.

We have endured much these past months. While the “plague” is not over we can begin to feel the splendor, majesty, and beauty of nature.

Bivracha,

Reb David
