With Spring Around the Corner...
With spring around the corner, crocuses and daffodils peaking through, hope is in the air. We can also breathe a little more easily, with million of others, with the passage of the COVID Relief Stimulus Bill.
In Jewish time we are between Purim and Pesach. This weekend we offer Hallel for the new month of Nisan, the first month of the agricultural year and the first month on the Hebrew calendar. May the renewal of life in nature lift us all.
Renewal Rabbi Tirzah Firestone, an author, Jungian psychotherapist, and founding rabbi of Congregation Nevei Kodesh in Boulder, Colorado, wrote a poignant meditation that I wanted to share with you in preparation for Pesach and to consider using at your Seder season.
How is this year different (yet again) from last year at this time?
How have you grown through this grueling year?
Where have you lost your faith, become immobilized, grown weary?
Where is your passion and life-force this spring? What garden are you tending, what corner of the community is calling for your care?
For more learning, consider going to Reb Tirzah’s website www.Tirzahfirestone.com. I also recommend her most recent book, Wounds into Wisdom. Years ago Tirzah lead a retreat at Sanctuary and also spoke to Kehila. Hopefully, we can bring her back in person soon.
Concerning Passover, note our special announcements section below.
Please note that this week we open the Am Kolel Gene Lipman Garden for the 15th season! We start planting tomorrow! I’m grateful to Gil Rosen for working with me this morning. Come visit if you can, give a hand if you would like. The Garden helps to provide fresh vegetables to a couple of shelters in the County.
